The Pigs opened up a 2-0 lead with a pair of runs in the second as a walk and a single started the inning before both runners later scored on an RBI groundout from Brock Stassi and an RBI single from Cedric Hunter.

Rochester cut the lead in half with a run in the fourth as Wilfredo Tovar tripled to left center with one out and came around to score on Daniel Palka's RBI groundout.

In the top of the fifth, Jesmuel Valentin reached with a one-out single, advanced to third on a single and scored on Nick Williams' sac fly to give the IronPigs a 3-1 lead.

Red Wings starter Andrew Albers (9-4) gave up three runs on six hits while walking two and fanning five in 4.2 IP.

Trailing 3-1, the Wings had runners at first and second with two outs in the fifth, but Thompson got Carlos Paulino to bounce to second and end the threat.

Lehigh Valley extended the lead to 4-1 with a run in the seventh as Valentin (3-4, 2 R) singled to start the frame, advanced to second on a single and later scored on a throwing error charged to Rochester 2B Tommy Field.

In the top of the ninth, the IronPigs opened up a 5-1 advantage when Emmanuel Burriss (2-3, 2 SB, R) drew a leadoff walk, went to second on a sac bunt, stole third and scored when Williams struck out swinging, but the ball got away from Rochester C John Ryan Murphy.

Andrew Knapp (2-4, 2B, R) also had a multi-hit game for manager Dave Brundage's squad.
