Toussaint pitches Fire Frogs to 4-1 win over Mets

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (July 21, 2017) -Touki Toussaint pitched the Florida Fire Frogs to a 4-1 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Friday at Osceola County Stadium. The former first round draft pick by Arizona dazzled over eight innings. He scattered three hits and one run while not issuing a walk.

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (July 21, 2017) -Touki Toussaint pitched the Florida Fire Frogs to a 4-1 win over the St. Lucie Mets on Friday at Osceola County Stadium.
 
The former first round draft pick by Arizona dazzled over eight innings. He scattered three hits and one run while not issuing a walk. He struck out a season-high 11 hitters.
 
Toussaint was also helped out by his defense. Center fielder Anfernee Seymour made multiple spectacular catches while third baseman Alejandro Salazar made a diving catch on a Jhoan Urena line drive.
 
The Mets lone road came in the eighth inning when J.C. Rodriguez hit a two-out solo home run. It was his third of the season.
 
Mets starter Mike Gibbons made his 2017 FSL debut after being activated from the St. Lucie disabled list earlier in the day. He is coming back from Tommy John surgery. Gibbons was solid. He pitched six innings and allowed four runs on eight hits. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.
 
The Fire Frogs scored two runs in the fourth inning. Alay Lago and Alex Jackson started the inning with singles. Braxton Davidson then hit a two-run double to put Florida up 2-0.
 
Lago, Jackson and Brett Cumberland hit doubles off of Gibbons in the sixth inning for two more runs and a 4-0 lead.
 
John Mora, Peter Alonso and Jeff McNeil had the other hits for the Mets. The Mets didn't get their first base runner until McNeil singled with one out in the fifth.
 
The Mets (11-17, 44-52) and Fire Frogs (10-14, 35-55) play the second game of their series at Osceola County Stadium on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
