Brian DeWine's Bio

March 16, 2010

Brian DeWine was named president of the Asheville Tourists in conjunction with the sale of the team to DeWine Seeds Silver Dollar Baseball, LLC in April 2010.

The fifth of eight children, Brian grew up in both Cedarville, Ohio, and the suburbs of Washington, DC. Like all members of the DeWine family, Brian has had a great passion for the game of baseball since his early childhood, loving not only the action on the field but also the "Hot Stove League" in the offseason.

Under Brian's leadership the Tourists continue to strive toward its mission statement of providing the families and residents of Western North Carolina with a special and affordable place to make memories together while experiencing the national pastime. Among the changes implemented on game nights since his arrival in Asheville include more promotional nights, 6:05 pm starts on Saturdays, a second mascot to help entertain the crowd, one dollar hot dog days, more fireworks night, and admitting children age 5 and under for free. Brian also led the charge in improving the quality of food at McCormick Field that resulted in Professional Sports Catering becoming the new concessionaire of McCormick Field. The 2014 season brought a record 182,702 fans to McCormick Field, a single season record for the franchise.

Brian also spearheaded the creation of a new identity and logo for the Tourists shortly after taking over the day-to-day operations of the team. The result incorporates both the history of baseball in Asheville and the excitement and fun Minor League Baseball represents. The new look can be seen throughout McCormick Field and around town as fans proudly wear their Tourists gear.

Brian is a 2002 graduate of Clemson University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. He also earned a Masters in Sport Management at The Ohio State University in 2003.

Brian and his wife, Kali, reside in Asheville and are active members of the community. Kali took over as the team Merchandise Manager in 2014. Their first child, Kathryn Becky, died prior to birth in November 2008 from a rare genetic disease. The couple's six year old son, Parker, loves coming to work with his Daddy and running the bases of McCormick Field. Addison, their four year old daughter, was born minutes after Game One of the 2012 South Atlantic League Championship Series. Tucker, just shy of being a year old, has been a staple in the front office since September of 2015. Each of their children require the singing of "Take Me out to the Ballgame" before being tucked in each night. In his free time, Brian enjoys spending time with his family, coaching the "Tiny Tourists" Tee-Ball Team and watching all sports, especially his beloved Clemson Tigers.

Brian wants every family's visit to McCormick Field to be as memorable as the many trips his family took to ballparks while growing up.
