B-Mets Offense Erupts in 14-5 Win Over Suns

Cohoon throws five no-hit frames
March 22, 2012

JUPITER, FL - The Binghamton Mets unleashed a 15-hit barrage and received five no-hit innings from Mark Cohoon in a 14-5 victory today over the Jacksonville Suns, the Double-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins.

Mark Cohoon, the southpaw who split time between Binghamton and Buffalo (AAA) last season, did not surrender a hit over five shutout innings. He racked up four strike outs and walked one. Greg Peavey took over in the sixth and allowed two runs over five innings. The B-Mets pitched two additional innings to provide ample work for the staff.

The B-Mets had offensive highlights throughout the lineup. Third baseman Brian Harrison led the team with three hits, going 3-for-4 on the afternoon. The South Carolina native played for Brooklyn Cyclones (SS-A) last year. Shortstop Robbie Shields, a member of the St. Lucie Mets (High-A) in 2011, went 2-for-3 with a home run and single.

The B-Mets (2-2) will play an intrasquad game tomorrow before hosting the Springfield Cardinals at 1 PM on Saturday.
