Muckdogs Fight Back to Win

BATAVIA, NY-The Batavia Muckdogs (9-7) scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth inning to beat the Connecticut Tigers (5-12) by a score of 3-2 at Dwyer Stadium on Wednesday.

Connecticut scored a run in the third inning on a solo home run from DH Zach Kirksey (1-2) over the right field wall for a 1-0 lead.

RF Patrick Smith (0-3) hit a sacrifice fly to center field to score LF Danry Vasquez (2-4) for a 2-0 Connecticut lead in the fourth inning.

The Muckdogs scored a single run in the seventh inning against Connecticut LHP Josh Turley. DH Jacob Wilson (0-3) reached base on an error and scored on a double by C Jonathan Keener (2-2) to cut the Tigers lead to 2-1.

LHP Josh Turley pitched 2.1 scoreless innings in his pro debut. The lefty, drafted by Detroit in the 16th round out of Baylor, followed starting pitcher Charlie Gillies. The right-hander pitched five innings and allowed just two hits and eight strikeouts.

The MuckDogs scored two runs in the ninth inning against Tigers LHP Joe Rogers (0-1). 3B Patrick Wisdom (1-3) led off the inning with a single and moved to second base on a passed ball. He scored on a double by SS Anthony Melchionda (1-4), who scored on a single by Wilson for the walk-off win.

The Tigers and Muckdogs continue their series on Thursday at 7:05 p.m. LHP Jack Duffey (0-1, 2.31) gets the start against LHP Tim Cooley (1-0, 1.93) for Batavia. Pre-game radio coverage begins at 6:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at www.cttigers.com.
