Hawks drop third straight, fall 10-4
Parker Markel (11-5) earned the win for the Hot Rods, allowing two runs, one earned, on seven hits over six innings. Tyler Green (4-8) was saddled with the loss, allowing six runs, three earned, on 10 hits over 4.2 innings. Jake Partridge entered when it was 6-4 and worked the final 1.1 innings to secure his fifth save of the season.
The Silver Hawks have not held a lead for the duration of the series and have lost six out of their last seven games.
Sean Jamieson and Matt Helm each finished 2-for-5 for the Silver Hawks. Helm hit a solo home run, his tenth of the season, in the third inning. Jamieson smacked his first Silver Hawks long ball, a two-run home run in the seventh inning, pulling the Silver Hawks to within two runs.
Bowling Green scored four runs in the ninth inning to put the game away.
Right-hander Matt Sample worked 2.1 scoreless innings out of the Silver Hawks bullpen. Alex Capaul allowed two earned runs over 1.1 innings. Kaleb Fleck worked 0.2 innings and allowed a pair of earned runs.
Jake Hager finished 3-for-5 for the Hot Rods. Cameron Seitzer and Josh Sale each knocked in three runs for the Hot Rods.
The Silver Hawks and Hot Rods play the third game of a four-game series Monday at Coveleski Stadium.
