Bundy named PCL Manager of the Year
Bundy was voted the PCL's top skipper after a balloting of the 16 field managers in the league and media representatives from each PCL city.
Bundy, 52, has the Isotopes in first place in the American Southern Division as they look to win their third division title. With four games remaining, Albuquerque is currently 77-63, which represents the third-most wins in their 10-year history.
The 2012 season marks Bundy's second with Albuquerque after he led them to a 70-74 record and second-place finish in 2011. That year he also managed the PCL All-Star Team, as well as the World Team for the XM Satellite All-Star Futures Game during the Major League All-Star Game festivities.
Bundy first became a player-coach in 1989 and a manager in 1990. He held a lifetime 598-642 career record going into the 2012 season, with experience managing in the Gulf Coast League, South Atlantic League, Midwest League, Florida State League, Mexican Pacific League and Pacific Coast League. Bundy has also seen coaching time in the Major Leagues, including with the Arizona Diamondbacks as the first base coach in 2009 and as a bench coach in 2004.
This marks the first time Bundy has been named the PCL Manager of the Year in his career. In 2006 he led the Tucson Sidewinders to the best record in Triple-A, capturing the PCL Championship was well as the inaugural Triple-A National Championship.
Among those who also received votes for the Pacific Coast League Manager of the Year award were Mike Jirschele (Omaha), Darren Bush (Sacramento), Marty Brown (Las Vegas) and Brett Butler (Reno).
