BILLINGS, MT Today the Cincinnati Reds announced Pat Kelly will return as the field manager for the Billings Mustangs in 2013.

"We couldn't be more pleased that Pat will be returning to manage the team in 2013," said Gary Roller, Mustangs General Manager. "His experience and leadership are assets both on and off the field, particularly as they relate to teaching and developing the younger players. He has been successful at every level of professional baseball, including here in Billings the past two seasons, and under his direction we believe that 2013 will be another successful season for the Mustangs."

Kelly guided the Mustangs to a 42-34 (.553) record in 2012, and has compiled an overall record of 86-66 (.566) in his two seasons with Billings. He served as the field manager for the Class-A Lynchburg Hillcats in 2010, and prior to that he spent the majority of three seasons as the manager for the Rookie GCL Reds as well as director of Florida on-field operations.

"I am thrilled to announce that Pat Kelly will be managing the Mustangs again in 2013," said Reds Director of Player Development Jeff Graupe. "Pat does an incredible job with our young players and since he has the skill set and experience to manage at any level, I feel that we are lucky to have him run our rookie level operation. I cannot imagine a finer environment for a first year player than to experience the entire Billings Mustangs community with Pat Kelly as the manager."

Kelly, 57, has spent 23 seasons managing in the minor leagues for 16 teams, including Richmond (2003-05), Syracuse (1999-2000), Ottawa (1997-98), Harrisburg (1995-96), Chattanooga (1993-94), Indianapolis (1991-92), Rockford (1991), Las Vegas (1990), Wichita (1988-89), Reno (1987), Charleston (1986), Glens Falls (1985) and GCL White Sox (1984). Kelly's playing career included stops in the Angels, Blue Jays, Braves and White Sox systems. He reached the big leagues in 1980 with Toronto.

The Mustangs open the 2013 season at Dehler Park on Thursday, June 20 when they host the Great Falls Voyagers at 7:05 pm MST.
