Farm Grown Fridays, Bobbleheads highlight promos

Other notables include Farm Bobblehead series, World Series replica rings
March 14, 2013

FRESNO, Calif. - The Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A affiliate of the 2012 World Series Champion San Francisco Giants, have announced their promotional schedule for the 2013 season. Bobbleheads, fireworks and Taco Truck Throwdown are among the returning promotions, but new items such as Farm Grown Fridays, Fresno Ideaworks Mini Maker Faire, and Instagrizz Night highlight the entire 72-game home schedule. The 2013 season begins on Thursday, April 4th at Chukchansi Park when the Grizzlies take on the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. The lineup of giveaways and promotions was first released via the Grizzlies' Twitter account throughout today.

The fun begins with Opening Weekend as there will be back-to-back fireworks shows on April 4th and Friday, April 5th. The two firework shows are the first of 13 over the season. Every Friday home game will feature fireworks with additional shows on Opening Day, Cinco de Mayo celebration on May 5th, and the Independence Day Extravaganza on July 4th.

There will be 11 giveaway items during the 2013 season. The first giveaway will be the "17 of the 25" Scarf (presented by Chukchansi Gold Resort & Casino) on Saturday, April 6th. The scarf showcases the 17 of the 25 players on the Giants' 2012 World Series roster that have also played for the Grizzlies in their careers. Fresno fans will also have the opportunity to get their hands on the Giants World Series replica ring - or ring on their fingers for that matter - on Saturday, April 20th. The World Series replica ring is presented by Fresno Coin Gallery. A complete list of giveaways can be found below.

On Saturday, May 18th, a Matt Cain bobblehead (presented by PG&E), the first of the four bobbleheads in the 2013 Farm Grown Bobblehead series, will be given away to the first 2,000 fans. The other Farm Grown Bobbleheads include Brandon Crawford (Saturday, June 29th), Will Clark (Saturday, July 6th), and Buster Posey (Saturday, August 31st).

Friday, April 5th is also the start of Farm Grown Fridays. In addition to fireworks, every Friday home game will feature a Farmer's Market for fans to purchase fresh produce at Chukchansi Park. The Grizzlies on the field will also be sporting a new look each Friday. Similar to the parent club Giants, the Grizzlies will be wearing new orange alternate jerseys at each Friday home game. Also, beginning with Friday, May 3rd, former Mayor of Fresno Alan Autry will host Farm Forums in The CRU Club prior to the game. The Farm Forums will allow an open-discussion over certain topics pertaining to the agriculture industry.

Several new promotions have been added to the lineup for 2013, including Fresno Ideaworks Mini Maker Faire, Bike to the Park, and Instagrizz Night. The Fresno Ideaworks Mini Maker Faire, held on Sunday, April 21st, will feature makers that show off what they have made and share what they have learned from their DIY-based projects. Bike to the Park on Sunday, May 19th will encourage bike riders to ride to the park and receive a discounted ticket. Bikes will have free and secure valet parking at Chukchansi Park for the game. Instagrizz Night on Thursday, May 23rd, presented by FresnoBeehive.com, will be a gathering of the Grizzlies' Instagram followers to meet and share their photos while snapping new photos from the game. Instagrizz Night will include a discounted ticket for those that RSVP for the gathering.

Taco Truck Throwdown will return once again for the 2013 season. The two-time nominee for Promo of the Year by MiLB.com will be held on the last Thursday home game of the season on August 1st. In 2012, 13 taco trucks competed for the title of best taco truck in the Central San Joaquin Valley while over 11,000 people ate nearly 14,500 tacos.

Four television and movie stars will be guests at Grizzlies games this season. Stefanie Scott, from Disney Channel's "A.N.T. Farm" and films such as Wreck-It Ralph, No Strings Attached and Flipped will make an appearance on Saturday, June 15th. On Saturday, July 20th, Peyton List from Disney Channel's "Jessie" will be a guest during Girl Scout Night. Other celebrity appearances include Alexandria Deberry (Disney Channel's "A.N.T. Farm") on Sunday, July 7th and Raini Rodriguez (Disney Channel's "Austin & Alley") on Saturday, August 17th.

The Grizzlies will wear five different theme jerseys over the course of the season to benefit local non-profit organizations. Friday, May 3rd is the Farm Grown jersey (benefitting Carolee Boele Memorial Scholarship Foundation); Saturday, May 18th is the Fresno Giants throwback jersey (beneficiary to be announced at a later date); Saturday, June 1st is Star Wars Night featuring a Star Wars theme jersey (benefitting Kremen School of Education at Fresno State); a special military theme jersey on Saturday, July 5th (benefitting USO Wounded Warrior Project); a Relay For Life jersey on Friday, July 19th (benefitting American Cancer Society).
