COLUMBUS, OH - The Columbus Clippers have announced the 2013 Opening Day roster that will take the field against Indianapolis for Thursday's regular season opener. The Clippers return some players from the 2012 squad, along with some valuable additions.

Chris Tremie begins his tenure as Clippers manager after two seasons at Double-A Akron. His team claimed the Eastern League Championship in 2012. Tremie enters his eighth season as a manager in the Cleveland Indians Player Development System. Phil Clark returns as hitting coach and Tony Arnold joins the staff as pitching coach.  Arnold was previous the pitching coach at Double-A Akron.

The 2013 roster includes these players:

He was 5-1 with a 2.85 ERA and 97 strikeouts in 82 innings with Triple-A Reno last season.
  • Veteran right-hander Daisuke Matsuzaka will be on the mound for the Clippers in 2013. He was part of the Boston Red Sox 2007 World Series Championship team and was MVP of the 2006 and 2009 World Baseball Classic titles for Japan.
  • Reliever Preston Guilmet is one of the best young arms in the Indians organization, rising to the Triple-A ranks for the first time this season. He recorded 24 saves while posting a 2.39 ERA in Double-A last year.
  • Outfielder Tim Fedroff returns to Columbus after a stellar 2012 season in which he was named the Indians Lou Boudreau Award winner, given to the organization's top minor league player. Fedroff hit .325 with 9 HRs and 32 RBIs in 69 games with the Clippers.

The Clippers finished 75-69 last year, second place in the International League West Division. In 2010 and 2011, Columbus won back-to-back Governors' Cup and Triple-A National Championships.

The home opener from Huntington Park is scheduled for Thursday, April 11th at 7:05pm against Indianapolis. The first 3,000 fans will receive a Clippers hat commemorating the club's fifth season at Huntington Park .
