Shorebirds Blank Sea Gulls 3-0 in Exhibition

Five pitchers combine for three-hit shutout

Salisbury, MD - Five Delmarva Shorebirds pitchers held the Salisbury University Sea Gulls to just three hits in a 3-0 exhibition game win on Tuesday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium in front of 2,096 fans.

The Shorebirds struck early in the first inning.  Adrian Marin was hit by a pitch.  After stealing second base, he advanced to third on a groundout by Christian Walker.  Then, Nik Balog hit a hard grounder through the left side of the infield to score Marin.

Brady Wager tossed two scoreless innings to begin the game.  He struck out two batters in the second to maneuver around a lead off double by Quinn Griffith, who was stranded at second.

Josh Hader entered in the third for the Shorebirds and pitched two scoreless innings.  He induced four groundouts and struck out one.

In the fourth inning, the Shorebirds added to their lead.  Joel Hutter hit a lead off double.  Then, Torsten Boss ripped a single to right field to build the lead to 2-0.  With two outs, Wynston Sawyer drilled a double to deep left field to give the Shorebirds a 3-0 lead.

Mychal Givens took the mound in the sixth inning and polished off the Sea Gulls in order.  He struck out Ken O'Neill to end the frame.  Matt Price finished the game with a scoreless seventh inning.

Part of the ticket proceeds from the exhibition game will go to the Brooke Mulford Foundation.
