1st Round Pick Braden Shipley Added to Hops Roster

  - Medford, Oregon Native Was 15th Overall Pick in Recent 2013 MLB Draft -

Hillsboro, OR (June 19, 2013) - The Hillsboro Hops (@HillsboroHops) announced that Medford, Oregon native Braden Shipley will join the team today. Shipley was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks with the 15th selection in the recent 2013 MLB Draft. He was ranked the as the Number 8 prospect by Baseball America heading into the June draft.

Shipley, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound right-handed pitcher, just completed his junior season at Nevada by going
7-3 with 102 strikeouts and a 2.77 ERA in 15 games.

Shipley becomes the highest draft pick the Arizona Diamondbacks have ever sent to the Northwest League. The highest previous pick was Conor Jackson in 2003, who went on to earn Northwest League Most Valuable Player honors with Yakima after being selected with the 19th pick in the 2003 MLB Draft.
