July 13, 2013

The Clippers played another extra inning affair with Indianapolis, defeating the Indians 5-2 in eleven innings at Victory Field.

Jeff Larish got the Indians on the board with a solo homer in the third inning. Brian Bocock would also score on an Alex Presley RBI groundout later on that frame.

On the mound, Indy righty Brandon Cumpton baffled the Clippers, holding Columbus to a mere one run on five hits in six innings of work. In the top of the seventh, Omir Santos drove home a run with an RBI single for Columbus. Tim Fedroff the tied the game in the top of the ninth with an RBI sacrifice fly.

Like their previous game, nine innings was not enough. In the top of the eleventh, Omir Santos plated his second run of the game with an RBI double, giving Columbus a 3-2 lead. Ezequiel Carrera added some insurance with a two run single to center.

Columbus would go to win as they split a doubleheader with Indianapolis. Preston Guilmet (W, 3-4) got the win for Clippers. Duke Welker (L, 3-3) took the loss for Indy.

Before heading into the all-star game, the Clippers will play one more game against Indianapolis on Sunday afternoon. Columbus will have lefty T.J. House (2-9, 5.42) on the mound. The Indians will counter with righty Graham Godfrey (6-5, 4.54). First pitch is scheduled for 1:35 PM.
