Johnson's Walk-Off Home Run Lifts Mets to 9-8 Win

Kyle Johnson hit a walk-off home run leading off the 12th inning as the Mets defeated the Palm Beach Cardinals 9-8 on Sunday.

Johnson drilled a pitch over the left field fence off of Iden Nazario in the 12th inning to end the 4 hour, 25-minute game.

The Mets trailed 7-2 in the fifth before scoring four times to cut the deficit to a run. Gilbert Gomez had a two-out, two-run double in the seventh to tie the score at 8-8. Gomez finished 3-for-6 with two RBIs.

Johnson was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Dustin Lawley had two hits and an RBI and Jayce Boyd had two hits with two RBIs. Kevin Plawecki went 1-for-4 with two runs and an RBI and Rylan Sandoval had hits and drove in a run.

Alex Panteliodis allowed seven runs(three earned) and eight hits in 4 2/3 innings with two walks and one strikeout. Randy Fontanez pitched 1 1/3 innings with two walks and two strikeouts. Cody Satterwhite gave up an unearned run in two innings. T.J. Chism tossed two scoreless innings and struck out three. Shawn Teufel picked up the victory with two scoreless innings.

The Mets will host the Cardinals on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Tradition Field. Michael Fulmer is the scheduled starter for the Mets.
