Chukars Rock the Rockies With Sweep

Caramo Goes 7 Innings in 10-2 Win
August 12, 2013

Grand Junction, CO -- Yender Caramo continued the Chukars excellent run of starting pitching. The offense once again provided early fireworks in a 10-2 Idaho Falls win over Grand Junction to complete the four game sweep.

Yender Caramo (4-1) spun a gem of a start in his fourth starting pitching outing of the season. It was a prototype Caramo start, pitching to contact with very few fly balls, and no walks. The right-hander cruised through the third best offense in the Pioneer League for seven innings. The Venezuelan only allowed one run and he struck out five batters. He picked up his second win as a Chukars (27-23, 8-4) starter.

Idaho Falls was sparked offensively with a couple of home runs. Daniel Rockett hit a two run home run in the first inning. It was Rockett's sixth home run of the season, which puts him in a tie with Hunter Dozier for the team lead. The Chukars scored four runs on Grand Junction (24-26, 3-9) in the first inning. Dominique Taylor celebrated his 21st birthday with a home run in the fifth. The Greybirds hopped ahead 9-0.

The Chukars take their seventh win in eight games in Grand Junction and complete the four game sweep in this series. Idaho Falls has won 13 of the past 15 games away from Melaleuca Field. The squad has won five in a row overall. Orem and Idaho Falls remain in a tie for first place in the Pioneer League South.

Idaho Falls has their first off day of August on Monday. The team had played in a game for 18 straight days. The Chukars get back to the ballpark Tuesday to start a four game series at Melaleuca Field against the Billings Mustangs.
