Dominguez has his fifth three-hit game this season

Fresno, Ca.---For the fifth straight start Fresno Grizzlies (61-67) right-hander Mitch Lively (7-5) pitched exactly six innings as he defeated the Reno Aces (51-78) 6-4 on Sunday night at Chukchansi Park. Lively continues his string of strong starts as over his last five such contests he's given up just seven earned runs in 30 innings (1.63 ERA) and 14 hits over that span. 

On Sunday, he allowed two runs (both earned) on a homer by Reno pinch hitter Alfredo Marte (4), gave up three hits, he walked two, and struck out two. 

The Grizzlies jumped out to a quick 6-0 advantage. The hometown team scored four times in the second inning while sending nine to the plate. Third baseman Chris Dominguez, and first baseman Johnny Monell each singled. And that set the stage for right fielder Francisco Peguero who singled to center, which scored Dominguez, and that, made it 1-0 Fresno. Other run-producing plays in the inning were a bases loaded sacrifice fly by catcher Guillermo Quiroz, and a fly ball double to right field by center fielder Juan Perez which scored two more runs, and made it 4-0.

Fresno tacked on two more runs in the third, Dominguez led off with a ground-rule double. He would score on a triple by Peguero, and then left fielder Kensuke Tanaka came through with a double to right field which scored Peguero.

The other two Reno runs came courtesy of a two-run homer by center fielder Brad Snyder (10) in the eighth inning off Fresno righty George Kontos. 

Right-hander Jean Machi struck out both eighth inning batters he faced, and righty Heath Hembree (29) pitched a perfect ninth with a strikeout. That extended his all-time Grizzlies record in saves with 44, and single-season mark too.

Reno right-handed starter Mike Bolsinger lasted four innings. He issued eight hits, six runs (all earned), he walked one, and struck out six. He made one wild pitch.

Game four of this scheduled five-game series will be on Monday night at 7:05. Reno will send right-hander Charles Brewer (5-10) to the hill against Fresno's Yusmeiro Petit. The right-hander has a 5-6 record. The season series is even at 7-7.
