Wisdom collects 4 RBI in 6-3 victory over Mets

August 22, 2013

JUPITER, FL- Patrick Wisdom led the offensive charge for Palm Beach as they took down St. Lucie 6-3 Thursday night at Roger Dean Stadium.

The Cardinals struck first in the bottom of the third inning, scoring two runs on a Patrick Wisdom (2-4, 2B, HR, 4RBI, R) double, his 3rd at the Advanced-A level. The supplemental first round draft pick from Murieta, CA did not stop there as he extended his squad's 4-0 lead in the 5th after hitting a 2-run homer off of Mets starter, Angel Quan (6IP, 7H, 4ER, 2BB, 2K).

St. Lucie would make things interesting in their half of the 7th, scoring three runs off of reliever Robert Stock (2.0IP, 4H, 3ER, 2K).

However, Jonathan Rodriguez (1-4, HR, 2RBI) crushed the Mets' hope as he broke out of his 0-20 slump in grand fashion, smashing a 2-run moon-shot over the left field wall that disappeared into the night sky. The blast gave Palm Beach the 6-3 lead which would ultimately stand as the final.

Highly touted prospect, Marco Gonzales (4.2IP, 2H, 2BB, 3K), got the start for the Cardinals. Despite getting the no-decision, Gonzales tossed a fantastic game as he kept the St. Lucie hitters off balance with his A+ changeup while painting corners with his 88-92 mph fastball.

Palm Beach will begin a three game set against the Bradenton Marauders tomorrow, 6:35 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium.
