Chukars Play Longball to Beat Mustangs

Idaho Falls Remains Road Hot with 10-3 Win
August 22, 2013

Billings, MT -- All season, Idaho Falls hadn't hit more than three home runs any game this season. It only took four innings for the team to eclipse that mark tonight. Four Chukars home runs lift the squad past the Mustangs 10-3.

Cody Stubbs delivered the first of the blows. For the second straight night, the Chukars (31-28, 12-9) used a home run in the first inning to hop in front of the Mustangs (23-37, 9-13). The Greybirds' first baseman launched a two run home run, his fourth of the season.

In the second inning, it was Alexis Rivera going yard. He began the inning with a solo shot to right field. It was also Rivera's fourth home run of the inning. The Chukars were in front 3-0. It was Humberto Arteaga's turn in the third. He began the frame with his second homer in the last two nights. Keeping right along, Daniel Rockett belted his team-leading seventh home run in the fourth.

On the pitching end, Jonathan Dziedzic had another solid start. The Lamar product lasted only 3.2 innings, but he didn't allow a run. In fact, Dziedzic hasn't allowed more than one run in any of his starts in August. Ashton Goudeau (1-5) pitched 2.1 innings of relief to earn his first win with Idaho Falls.

The Chukars go for the sweep over the Mustangs tomorrow. It's the final game of the three game series. Luke Farrell is slated to start for the Greybirds.
