Gil provides win with 12th inning single

August 23, 2013

JUPITER, FL- Palm Beach was able to snap Bradenton's 7 game win streak Friday night thanks to a 12th inning Ronny Gil (3-5, RBI, R) single that brought in Anthony Garcia (1-5, R) for the 2-1 victory.

The Marauders got on the board first when Jacob Stallings (2-5, HR, RBI) hit a solo homer in the 2nd. However, Cardinals' starter Ryan Sherriff (7.0IP 4H, ER, 4K) did not allow the misplaced pitch get to him as it was the only run he allowed through seven.

His counterpart Zach Dodson (6.0IP, 4H, ER, BB, K) was equally impressive, not giving up a run until the 6th when Jacob Wilson (1-5, RBI) singled in Ronny Gil.

With the game knotted at 1-1 heading into the bottom of the 12th, Anthony Garcia drew a leadoff walk. Next batter Jesus Montero was able to advance Garcia to second on a perfectly executed sacrifice bunt. For the second time in three games, Ronny Gil was able to capitalize on a game winning situation as he singled in Garcia with a hard hit ball up the middle.

The two teams will play the second game of a three game set tomorrow, 6:35 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium.
