August 25, 2013

BUFFALO, NY - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs earned a split in their four-game series with the Buffalo Bisons, winning 7-0 Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Field behind three RBIs from Steve Susdorf.

Susdorf led the 14-hit attack, going 3-for-5 with a home run and two runs scored. Pete Orr, Cesar Hernandez and Cody Overbeck all had a pair of hits, as the 1-4 hitters combined to go 9-for-19 with five runs scored and four RBIs.

It wasn't until the fourth inning that the IronPigs (69-66) scored, as Susdorf came around to score on a fielder's choice. Michael Martinez then doubled to score Tyler Henson, and Leandro Castro singled home Martinez for a 3-0 lead.

The score remained that way until the seventh, as Orr tripled and scored when Hernandez doubled to right field. Susdorf then stepped up and cracked a two-run homer, his first dinger since June 21, as Lehigh Valley extended its lead to 6-0.

Susdorf continued his big day in the top of the ninth, driving in Hernandez with a double to right field as the visitors took a commanding 7-0.

Meanwhile Raul Valdes (4-4) earned the win in his first appearance with the IronPigs since July 19, tossing five innings of five-hit ball. Phillippe Aumont posted two frames out of the bullpen while Mike MacDougal and Mauricio Robles each tossed an inning.

Former Phillies prospect Kyle Drabek (1-2) took the loss for the Bisons (69-66), allowing three runs on seven hits in 3 1/3 innings.

The series shifts to Allentown on Monday as the teams square off in a doubleheader. LHP Tom Cochran (3-7, 5.25) goes for the IronPigs in game one against Buffalo RHP Drew Hutchinson (0-2, 7.33). The 'Pigs have yet to name a game two starter while the Bisons send RHP Justin Germano (8-9, 4.59) to the hill. First pitch for game one is set for 6:05 p.m. at Coca-Cola Park.
