Brown Named to MWL Postseason All-Star Team

Loons lefty reliever leads Midwest League in wins
August 30, 2013

MIDLAND, Mich. - The Midwest League announced Friday that Great Lakes Loons relief pitcher Geoff Brown (12-1, 2.10 ERA) has been named to the Postseason All-Star team as the left-handed relief pitcher. Brown, who is tied for the second-highest single-season wins total in Loons franchise history, with 12 victories, currently leads the league in wins, despite only starting one game all season.

The Mill Creek, Wash., native has made 27 appearances for the Loons this season. Along with a 12-1 record and a 2.10 ERA, Brown has a 1.03 WHIP and a 50-26 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 77 innings. He has held opponents to a pedestrian .210 batting average, fifth among MWL relievers. Brown is also second among relievers in fewest baserunners allowed per nine innings.

Brown was added to the Loons roster from extended spring training on May 15. He pitched three games with Great Lakes last season after signing with the Los Angeles Dodgers in August 2012. Brown spent the majority of his 2012 season with the Joliet Slammers of the Frontier League and was with the Perth Heat of the Australian Baseball League in 2011 after wrapping up his collegiate career at the University of Washington.

Great Lakes will close out their regular season home schedule on Friday night with the last game of a three-game series against Dayton. The Loons Regular Season Finale will feature an All-You-Can-Eat Picnic and a Postgame Fireworks Loontacular, powered by Dow Corning. Game time is 7:05 p.m.

The Great Lakes Loons are a seventh-year Single-A partner of the Los Angeles Dodgers. For tickets and more information about the Loons, visit Loons.com or call 989-837-BALL.
