Highlights from Tulsa's 2013 Campaign

With the Tulsa Drillers' year coming to a close on Friday night at Arkansas, let's take a look back at some of the highlights from their 2013 season.

APRIL 24 Chad Bettis sets the ONEOK Field record for strikeouts in a game with 11 during a 2-1 Drillers win over the Arkansas Travelers.

MAY 24 Former National League All-Star Roy Oswalt makes his Drillers debut, allowing three runs to the Midland RockHounds in five innings.

MAY 27 Second baseman Angelys Nina is named Texas League Player of the Week after hitting .409 with three doubles, two home runs, four RBI, and four stolen bases from May 20-26.

JUNE 11 Christian Bergman, Tyler Matzek, Kent Matthes, Kyle Parker, Angelys Nina and Kiel Roling of the Drillers are named Mid-Season TL All-Stars.

JUNE 17 Tulsa wins its second straight North Division First-Half Title after the final two first half games at Springfield are cancelled to due wet grounds.

JUNE 18 Roy Oswalt is named TL Pitcher of the Week after allowing one earned run over 15 1/3 innings pitched from June 10-16. Oswalt made his debut with the Rockies two days later on June 20. He went 3-2 with a 2.16 ERA in five starts with Tulsa.

JUNE 25 Kiel Roling finishes second in the 2013 TL Home Run Derby and pitcher Tyler Matzek starts the 2013 Mid-Season Classic for the North Division All-Star Team.

JULY 5 The official attendance for Tulsa's game with San Antonio was 8,145, marking the first time in the 37-year history of the franchise that three consecutive games in Tulsa had sold out. Tulsa's attendance was 8,288 on July 3 and 8,359 on July 4, bringing the three-day total to 24,792.

JULY 15 Kiel Roling hits his 45th career long ball with the Drillers to become the franchise's all-time home run champion.

AUGUST 1 Chad Bettis becomes the first player from Tulsa's original 2013 roster to be called up to the big leagues.

AUGUST 2 Christian Bergman tosses the Drillers' first complete-game shutout in over two years, allowing just three hits and striking out six during a 5-0 victory at Northwest Arkansas.

AUGUST 5 After his complete-game shutout in Springdale two days earlier, Christian Bergman is named TL Pitcher of the Week (July 29-August 4).

AUGUST 24 The Drillers draw their 14th capacity crowd of the year, setting the single-season record for the most sellouts in franchise history.

AUGUST 27 Christian Bergman, outfielder Kyle Parker and infielders Angelys Nina and Cristhian Adames of the Drillers are named End of Season TL All-Stars.

AUGUST 27 Tulsa's Cristhian Adames, Dustin Garneau, Dan Houston, Tyler Matzek and Kyle Parker are selected to play for the Salt River Rafters in the prestigious Arizona Fall League. In addition, Drillers pitching coach Darryl Scott was chosen to serve in the same capacity for the Rafters

SEPTEMBER 4 The first-half division champion Drillers open their second consecutive North Division Playoff Series at home against the second-half champion Arkansas Travelers.

SEPTEMBER 5 Drillers outfielder Kyle Parker is named co-Texas League Player of the Month for August after hitting .330 (season-high) with five home runs and a league-best 23 RBI in August.

SEPTEMBER 5 Attendance was 4,036 for the Game 2 of the North Division Playoff Series, bringing the season attendance total at ONEOK Field for Drillers games to 401,364. It marks only the second time in the 100-plus year history of Tulsa professional baseball that attendance has topped 400,000 for a season.
