'Cats Reveal 2014 Summer Promo Lineup!

Evers bobblehead, desktop replica ring among the many giveaways

TROY, NY- The Tri-City ValleyCats have announced their 2014 summer promotional schedule, and it includes 38 unique theme nights, 14 extravagant fireworks displays, plenty of giveaways, and tons of exciting family entertainment.

Promotions making their debut in 2014 include Education Day (June 17), Glow in the Park Night (July 5), You Run the Show (August 25) presented by Subway, Pirate Night (August 13), Reality TV Night (August 2), and Comicon with the 'Cats (June 14). New giveaways include a bobblehead of Troy native and baseball Hall of Famer Johnny Evers, a desktop replica championship ring, and a five-part ValleyCats poster series.

The ValleyCats kick off the 2014 season at home on Friday, June 13, which begins Championship Weekend at "The Joe." On Opening Night, all fans in attendance will receive a 2014 schedule magnet and will be treated to the first postgame fireworks extravaganza of the season. The inaugural Comicon with the 'Cats will take place on Saturday, June 14, also with postgame fireworks.

Championship Weekend concludes on Sunday, June 15, with a Father's Day Fan Fest Celebration. The festivities will begin with a morning brunch and last throughout the day. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a 2013 championship poster, the first of five 'Cats collectable posters.

Other collectable poster nights include July 6 to celebrate the holiday weekend, the 2014 ValleyCats team poster on August 2, 2013 MLB top draft pick Mark Appel ValleyCats poster on August 13, and a poster of the 2014 ValleyCats All-Stars on August 30.

The 'Cats will pay tribute to Hall of Famer and Troy, NY native Johnny Evers on Capital Region Baseball Heritage Night, July 21, the date which would have been his 133rd birthday. The first 1,500 fans through the gates will receive a Johnny Evers bobblehead, the latest addition to the Heritage Series Bobblehead Collection. This year also marks the 75th anniversary of the National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, and the 100th anniversary of the 1914 Miracle Braves, with whom Evers was team captain.

To commemorate last year's New York-Penn League championship, on Night of Champions, June 23, the first 1,500 fans will receive a desktop replica championship ring. Throughout the night, the ValleyCats will also honor local champions from all around the Capital Region.

On Tuesday, June 17, for the first time ever the ValleyCats will host an Education Day. It is designed as an opportunity for local schools to attend the ballgame as an educational field trip. The ValleyCats have created a curriculum that centers on character development along with more traditional subject matter as it relates to the game of baseball. Game time is tentatively scheduled for 10 am and will be confirmed in the coming months.

The ValleyCats will host two other matinee games, Camp Day / Senior Day Tuesday, July 8, and Monday, August 4. Both dates will have an 11 am start time.

Sticking with tradition, the 'Cats will be home for Independence Weekend, beginning with their Fourth of July Celebration featuring one of the biggest fireworks displays in the Capital Region. On July 5, it's Red, White and Blue: Glow in the Park Night, as fans will receive a glow stick that will shine bright during another grand postgame fireworks display. All weekend the team will be wearing special Red, White and Blue patriotic themed jerseys, which will be auctioned off following the game on Sunday, July 6: Faith, Family & Fellowship Night.

The 'Cats will also be wearing specialty jerseys on Dark Tuesday: Track Night at "The Joe," August 26. The team will wear jerseys themed after jockey silks, to be auctioned off following the game. Proceeds will benefit the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region.

Reality TV Night makes its debut on Saturday, August 2, as the ValleyCats will create unique promotions throughout the night that spin-off of hit reality TV shows such as Storage Wars, Pawn Stars, SURVIVOR, and more.

Irish Night, presented by Irish 2000 Music & Arts Festival, returns on August 12 as part of the ValleyCats Tunes for Tuesday live music lineup. Hair of the Dog will perform prior to the game, with corned beef & cabbage and Guinness being served as a dinner special.

During Pirate Night on August 13, the ValleyCats will seek another World Record. Stay tuned for more details on this pirate-themed attempt.

On August 25, You Run the Show Night, presented by Subway, fans will literally run the show as part of our Social Media Monday. They will be able to vote on what promotions they want to see, what music they would like to hear, what should be that night's food special, among many other fan-driven options.

Staple promotions making their return in 2014 include For the Love of the Game: Youth Baseball Night presented by BlueShield of Northeastern New York (June 16), A League of Their Own: Softball Night (June 24), Bark in the Park presented by Nemith Motors (July 7), Veterans Night presented by CSEA (July 16), Going Green Night presented by National Grid (7/25), Home Improvement Night (August 28), 50 Cent Hot Dog Night presented by Helmbold's Hot Dogs (July 30), Italian Night presented by Northeast Parent & Child Society (August 1), NFL Night presented by AT&T (August 3), and our annual Diamond Dig (August 29).

Other returning fan favorites include Star Wars Night presented by Eddy Daybreak (July 19), Medieval Times at "The Joe" with a Hannaford Helps Fight Hunger event (July 26), Arts in the Ballpark (July 17), Texas Night: Boots, BBQ & Baseball presented by Dave & Buster's (August 20), Blizzard in August: White Out at "The Joe" (August 21), and Fans for Life Night (August 30).

The ValleyCats will feature weekly promotions all season long. Each Monday home game is Social Media Monday, where prizes will be given away to fans through social media. Tuesdays are Two For Tuesdays, where fans will enjoy two-for-one beer specials. Thursdays are Thursty Thursdays, as fans can purchase a large beer for the price of a small.

Each Sunday is Sunday Funday, where fans can purchase four tickets, four hot dogs and four sodas for just $25. Plus, kids have the opportunity to play catch on the field at 4 pm, and run the bases following the game. Gates will open at 3:15 pm for Sunday Summer Reading Day, and the players will read a book to the children in the Field of Dreams. The first 40 families will get a copy of the book to take home, and will receive tickets to Summer Reader Night on August 27, presented by NY529 College Savings Program.

2014 will be the 13th season of Minor League Baseball at "The Joe," and is the 75th anniversary of the New York-Penn League. Season tickets, mini-plans and flex plans are all available for purchase.
