Drive Extend Winning Streak to Four

Stankiewicz hurls five shutout innings in the victory
April 12, 2014

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Drive (6-3) continued their winning ways on Saturday night. Good pitching and a big hit highlighted the Drive's 4-1 victory over the Kannapolis Intimidators (4-6) at Fluor Field.

Making his second start of the season, Teddy Stankiewicz (1-1) kept the Intimidators off the scoreboard in his five innings of work to pick up the victory. He allowed three hits and three walks while punching out four.

One night after going 4-4, Kevin Mager came up big once again by crushing a three-run shot to left-center against Kannapolis starter Sean Bierman (0-1). The homer gave the Drive a 3-0 lead in the third inning.

Greenville scored their final run of the game in the fifth when Bo Greenwell alertly scooted home from third during a rundown between second and third.

Kannapolis scratched across their run in the sixth with three hits, including a two-out RBI single by Carl Thomore, but Mike Adams got a groundout to escape further damage. Adams also worked out of a bases loaded jam in the seventh inning by striking out Jacob Morris to end the threat.

Jonathan Aro worked a scoreless ninth inning to earn his first save of the year.

Danny Hayes and Trey Michalczewski each collected two hits for Kannapolis.

The Drive will send RH Mario Alcantara (0-1, 11.25 ERA) to the mound on Sunday as they look to sweep the four-game series. RH Andrew Mitchell (1-0, 3.60 ERA) starts for the Intimidators. First pitch for Sunday's game is set for 4:05 PM.

Sunday is Bark in the Ballpark at Fluor Field, and all fans who bring their dog to the game will receive a free ticket for their four-legged friend! All sorts of fun activities for dogs are planned, include in-game entertainment, water stations, areas to walk around and more.
