April 14, 2014

CHARLESTON, SC - After a quick three-game road series against the rival Greenville Drive, the Charleston RiverDogs will return to Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park and host a three-game homestand against the Rome Braves this week. This series, which runs from Thursday, April 17 to Saturday, April 19, is packed with fun, fireworks, and fitness!

Thursday, April 17, 7:05 pm: Budweiser Thirsty Thursday, presented by 95SX, brings a lot of action to the Ashley View Pub. Celebrate happy hour with DJ Natty Heavy in the Ashley View Pub, complete with $1 drafts and a wing-eating contest courtesy of Wild Wing Café. The RiverDogs will also continue their Thursday postgame concert series, presented by Palmetto Brewery and Awendaw Green, with a performance by The Dunder Chiefs of Rock Hill. Featuring a mix of folk, rock, and bluegrass, The Dunder Chiefs will hold their concert adjacent to the Beer Garden after the conclusion of the game.

Friday, April 18, 7:05 pm: Military support is the focus of ISHPI Red Shirt Friday, presented by 103.5 WEZL. Wear red to the game and save $1 off your ticket purchase at the box office, or donate that dollar to the Canines for Veterans and Folds of Honor charities. The RiverDogs will don special red jerseys and honor a military family for every Friday home game this season. It's also $3 Aluminum Pint Night in the Ashley View Pub from Miller and Coors. Following the game, make plans to stay at The Joe for another spectacular postgame fireworks display over the scenic Ashley River.

Saturday, April 19, 6:05 pm: The 11th Annual "Run, Forrest, Run" 5K, presented by Fleet Feet Sports and WTAT Fox 24, opens a fitness theme for Saturday's series finale. Packet pick-up for the 5K will be on Friday from noon to 5:00 pm at Fleet Feet Sports. The race begins at 4:00 pm on Saturday afternoon and finishes at home plate at The Joe. Participants can enjoy a post-race dinner provided by Bubba Gump Shrimp Company and lucky honorees will be recognized in a pregame awards ceremony. In addition to the 5K, the RiverDogs are hosting a Run-In-Place Marathon during the game as select fans will be chosen to try and cumulatively take 52,400 steps before the end of the contest. Social Media Saturday is another way for fans to stay active by making requests to the RiverDogs on Facebook and Twitter for in-game music, promotions, and other features that fans would like to see and hear. Kids will also have the opportunity to run around the bases after Saturday's game.

This second homestand will be followed by a RiverDogs road trip before Charleston comes back to the Lowcountry near the end of April.
