Story Reaches Five Times in Nuts 9-4 Win

San Jose, CA. - Matt Wessinger drove in three runs to help the Nuts to a 9-4 victory over the Giants on Wednesday night at Municipal Stadium.

In the third inning, Sean Dwyer gave the Nuts (3-4, 26-51) a 2-1 lead with a RBI single to knock Giants (2-5, 36-41) starter Joe Biagini (L, 4-5) out of the game. The righty walked a career-high six, and allowed four runs on three hits over 2.2 innings.

Ryan Bradley was the first arm out of the 'pen and was greeted by Matt Wessinger who clubbed a two-run double to cap the four-run third.

Trevor Story tacked on to the Nuts lead with a two-run homer in the fourth inning. Story reached in all five plate appearances. The Nuts' shortstop walked three times, had a single and the home run while scoring three runs. Wessinger added a RBI single in the seventh and Jordan Ribera contributed a RBI single in the eighth.

Jayson Aquino (W, 2-4) tossed five innings and allowed just two earned runs while giving up eight hits, walking three and striking out one. The lefty continuously worked out of trouble and stranded five runners.  

The series victory is the Nuts' first on the road this season, the first of the second half and the first since a four-game set against the Stockton Ports May 23rd through May 26th.

The Nuts open a four-game series against the Mavericks in High Desert starting on Thursday night. Righty Ben Alsup will throw for the Nuts.
