Chukars Win Back to Back Games For First Time

No Rockies Reach Second in 9-0 Chukars Win
June 28, 2014

IDAHO FALLS, ID -- On a cloudy and rainy night at Melaleuca Field, it was Chukars pitchers shining on Friday. The Bryan Brickhouse, Ashton Goudeau, Brandon Thomas, Nick Green combo combined for a two hit shutout in an Idaho Falls 9-0 win over Grand Junction.

No Rockies player reached second base in a dominating performance by Chukars (5-7) pitchers. Bryan Brickhouse got the start, and it only took him two pitches to retire the first two batters. Early swings and early outs by Grand Junction (7-5) were a theme in the right-hander's four innings. Brickhouse only allowed one hit, and one walk.

Ashton Goudeau (1-0) took over in the fifth, and tossed three innings of his own. The Rockies were only able to muster one hit off of the returning Chukar. Each of the players who singled for Grand Junction were erased from the bases by a caught stealing. Brandon Thomas issued a walk in the eighth, but that was erased with a double play. Nick Green pitched a clean ninth. Grand Junction came into the game leading the league in batting average, and home runs.

Chukars offense revved up in the fourth. Four runs came across, including one by a balk Taylor Black. The inning began with Craig Schlitter (0-1) allowing two singles after an error on Kevin Padlo. The game-opening hit was a two run single by Jecksson Flores.

Idaho Falls continues the four game series against Grand Junction tomorrow. Eric Skoglund is slated to pitch for the Chukars, against Carlos Polanco.
