FORT MYERS, Fla. (July 5, 2014) - The Fort Myers Miracle lost 3-2 to the Charlotte Stone Crabs on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 6,917 fans at Hammond Stadium.

The Stone Crabs scored a pair of runs off Miracle starter Brett Lee in the third inning. Lee (6-2) issued a one out walk to Leonardo Reginatto. After getting Patrick Leonard to fly out, Lee surrendered a single to Justin O'Conner into right center field. With runners on the corners and two outs, Maxx Tissenbaum hit a ground ball to the left side. Third baseman Travis Harrison bobbled the ball and Reginatto scored on the error. Marty Gantt then sliced a base hit into right field to bring in O'Conner and give the Stone Crabs a 2-0 lead.

Lee lasted just three innings in a losing effort, allowing two unearned runs on two hits with four walks and two strikeouts.

O'Conner extended Charlotte's lead to 3-0 in the seventh with a solo home run off Miracle reliever Madison Boer. On an 0-1 pitch, O'Conner sent a low liner over the fence in left and into the CenturyLink lawn.

The Miracle finally solved Stone Crabs starter Austin Pruitt in the bottom of the seventh inning. Dalton Hicks led off with a double into left center. After Harrison popped out, Stuart Turner earned a walk. Charlotte manager Jared Sandberg took out Pruitt (4-4)and brought in Kevin Brandt. Niko Goodrum then hit a soft liner through the right side that scored Hicks and got the Miracle on the board. Jorge Polanco followed with a RBI hit past Reginatto at short to cut the Stone Crabs lead to 3-2.

Pruitt was charged with two runs in 6.1 innings with eight strikeouts.

In the ninth, the Miracle got a lead off single from Goodrum. After Polanco was struck out by Stone Crabs closer Marcus Jensen, Goodrum was picked off first base by O'Conner on a 1-0 pitch to Max Kepler. Doug Mientkiewicz argued the call and was ejected from the game. Jensen struck out Kepler to preserve the win for Charlotte and pick up his fifth save of the season.
