Sox and Rocks Finally Washed Out

July 14, 2014

Wilmington, DE (July 14, 2014) - Monday night's scheduled series finale between the Salem Red Sox and Wilmington Blue Rocks was postponed tonight due to torrential downpours at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington. The game will be made up as part of a doubleheader at some point during the Sox final trip to Delaware this season, from August 30th through September 1st.

The threat of rain hovered over the park throughout the late afternoon. The tarp went on the field at about 6:20 and the rains came around 6:45.

Salem took two of three from Wilmington during the rain-shortened three game set. Salem's starting pitchers did not allow an earned run in the series.

The Sox have a scheduled off-day tomorrow, and will return to the diamond in Salem Wednesday night. The Sox will host the Frederick Keys for the second time in two weeks. Wednesday's opener will be Salem's eight game against Frederick over its last 13 overall. The Keys swept the Sox at LewisGale Field earlier this week, from the seventh through the tenth of July. Justin Haley will slide back and is scheduled to start Wednesday. Orioles prized prospect Dylan Bundy gets the ball for the Keys. First pitch is at 7:05.
