July 17, 2014

DUNEDIN, FL - The Blue Jays (12-15, 58-38) defeated the Jupiter Hammerheads (5-20, 32-62) 5-2 on Tuesday night at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium.

RHP Kendall Graveman (W, 8-3) retired the first eight men he faced and allowed just one run. He earned the victory after tossing 7.0 innings for his third consecutive start.

Jupiter starter Trevor Williams (L, 6-6) allowed five runs, three earned, on nine base hits. He lasted 6.0 innings and took his second consecutive loss.

The Jays began the scoring in the bottom of the third inning. LF Nick Baligod singled to begin the inning. CF Dwight Smith, Jr. hit into a groundball fielder's choice, but shortstop Justin Bohn threw the ball into right field, allowing Baligod to score from first base; Smith ended up on third base. A wild pitch then allowed Smith to score. The D-Jays scored two more runs in the following inning on a two-run homerun by DH Kevin Patterson.

The Hammerheads scored in the top of the sixth. Three consecutive singles score Bohn. Baligod threw Colin Moran out at home, however, to end the inning.

The Jays answered with a 2B Christian Lopes sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning.

Jupiter's Sharif Othman hit a solo homer in top of the ninth off of RHP Arik Sikula. Sikula and LHP Tony Davis each pitched 1.0 inning out of the bullpen.

The Blue Jays continue their four-game series with the Jupiter Hammerheads on Friday night at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium at 6:30 p.m. EST.
