Missions' Bats Quiet as Home Win Streak Ends

August 1, 2014

San Antonio managed just three hits in a 4-1 loss to Frisco Friday night at Wolff Stadium.

Rehabber Robbie Erlin got the ball Friday in his first Wolff Stadium start since September of 2012. Erlin, who began the year with San Diego before going on the DL (elbow soreness) in June, allowed three hits and a walk, while striking out one in two and a third scoreless innings. The southpaw threw 25 of his 42 pitches for strikes.

Erlin was replaced by right-hander Bryce Morrow, who kept the 'Riders off the board through the fifth.

San Antonio struggled to generate much offense themselves against Frisco starter Jerad Eickhoff, who allowed just one run on three hits and one walk, while striking out seven over six innings.

Eickhoff's only mistake of the night was Adam Buschini's leadoff homer in the fifth that gave San Antonio a 1-0 lead.

Frisco did not trail for long, tagging Morrow (3-4) for four runs on five hits in the top of the sixth.

Buschini's homer turned out to be the final hit for the Missions. San Antonio managed just two baserunners (both walks) over the final four innings against Eickhoff (9-7) and relievers Francisco Mendoza, Will Lamb and Keone Kela (3rd save).

The loss snapped the Missions' season-high, tying six-game home win streak.

San Antonio (21-21, 57-55) and Frisco (24-18, 64-47) resume their four-game series Saturday, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 PM. Following the game there will be a special fireworks show courtesy of Bud Light. Right-hander Justin Hancock (1-1, 4.32) will get the ball for the Missions, while the 'Riders counter with lefty Andrew Faulkner (0-0, 3.60).
