2015 Gildan Triple-A Baseball National Championship Game

EL PASO, Texas - The El Paso Chihuahuas and the City of El Paso will once again be put on a national stage as the Gildan Triple-A Baseball National Championship game will be played at Southwest University Park on September 22, 2015. The game is to be nationally televised on NBC Sports Network.

"It is truly an honor to have the opportunity to host one of Minor League Baseball's jewel events, and to do it on a national stage," said president of MountainStar Sports Group, Alan Ledford. "We look forward to welcoming the Triple-A Baseball community to El Paso and Southwest University Park, and to providing our fans with an opportunity to see the very best players and teams from the 2015 season."

The Honorable Oscar Leeser, Mayor of El Paso said, "With last week's recognition as the best ballpark in the nation, Southwest University Park will be the perfect venue for the championship game. The game will be a great opportunity to show off El Paso's wonderful hospitality. It will also be a great chance to showcase our community to the entire nation."

The game features the champions of the Pacific Coast League and the International League in a winner-take-all game.

Joining Ledford and Leeser in the announcement were Pat O'Conner, president and CEO of Minor League Baseball; Branch Rickey, president of the Pacific Coast League; Randy Mobley, president of the International League; and Brad Taylor, general manager of the El Paso Chihuahuas.

"Minor League Baseball views the Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game as a jewel event for all of Minor League Baseball and a fitting conclusion to the Minor League season," O'Conner said. "The level of excitement, intensity and competition of this championship game is indicative of its importance to the players as well. The 2015 game should be an especially exciting event as we tap into the unbridled passion and enthusiasm of the El Paso fans and community."

The game will be in its 10^th year when the Chihuahuas host in 2015. The Pacific Coast League leads the series 5-3, with this year's contest to be played on September 16^th in Charlotte, N.C. at the new BB&T Ballpark. Four teams (Sacramento, Columbus, Durham and Omaha) have played in the championship game twice with Sacramento and Columbus winning in each of their appearances.

Previously known as the Bricktown Showdown, the game was held annually at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, home of the Oklahoma City RedHawks (Houston Astros). In 2011, it was decided that the game would be hosted in a different Triple-A city each year. Albuquerque, N.M. (2011), Durham, N.C. (2012), and Allentown, Pa. (2013) have hosted the game.

Chihuahuas Season Seat Holders will be given the first opportunity to purchase tickets. Individual game tickets will made available to the general public at a later date.

EL PASO, Texas - El Paso Chihuahuas y la Ciudad de El Paso estarán nuevamente en el escenario nacional como sede del Campeonato Nacional Gildan de Béisbol de Triple-A, que se llevará a cabo en el Southwest University Park el 22 de Septiembre del 2015. Este juego será transmitido a nivel nacional por la cadena NBC Sports.

"Es verdaderamente un honor el tener la oportunidad de recibir uno de los eventos cumbre del Beisbol de Ligas Menores, MiLB, y además hacerlo en un escenario nacional", declaró Alan Ledford, presidente del grupo MontainStar Sports. Este juego enfrentará a los campeones de la Liga de la Costa del Pacífico y la Liga Internacional en un juego definitorio por el Campeonato.

Los Chihuahuas serán anfitriones de la 10ma. Edición en el 2015. La Liga de la Costa del Pacífico domina la serie con 5-3, el campeonato de este año será disputado en Charlote, N.C. el 16 de Septiembre en el nuevo BB&T Ballpark. Cuatro equipos (Sacramento, Columbus, Durham y Omaha) han jugado en este campeonato en dos ocasiones, siendo Sacramento y Columbus quienes han ganado en sus respectivas apariciones.

Anteriormente conocido como Bricktown Showdown, este juego se llevaba a cabo anualmente en el AT&T Bricktown Ballpark, casa de los Oklahoma City RedHawks (filial de los Astros de Houston). En el 2011, se decidió que el campeonato fuera realizado en diferentes sedes de la Triple-A cada año. Otras ciudades sede han sido Albuquerque, N.M. (2011), Durham, N.C. (2012), and Allentown, Pa. (2013).
