Campos and Pen Blank RoughRiders 5-0

August 21, 2014

FRISCO-Leonel Campos turned in a career-night Wednesday to help lead the Missions to their first shutout of the month and 11th of the season in front of 4,522 at Dr. Pepper Ballpark.

Campos worked a career-high six innings, allowing just two hits while matching his career-high in strikeouts with eight.

Three relievers worked an inning each to preserve the whitewash and give the Missions just their fourth win in 14 games at Frisco this season. It also snapped the 'Riders four-game winning streak.

Cory Spangenberg extended his hitting streak to 13 games with a pair of doubles and Cody Overbeck slugged his 11th homerun of the year and added a single.

San Antonio has captured three of the last four games after starting the month 3-10.

Notebook: Spangenberg is the first player in the Texas League this year with a pair of hitting streaks of at least 12 games. He hit in 14 straight in July…Missions pitchers fanned 11. The staff leads Double-A in punchouts this season.
