August 29, 2014

ALLENTOWN, PA - The IronPigs score three runs on a OF Tony Gwynn Jr. double in the sixth inning to take a 6-5 lead, and never looked back as the bullpen delivered three strong innings to seal the victory and win the "IronRail" for the first time in team history.

Lehigh Valley jumped out to a first-inning lead when DH Russ Canzler smacked a two-run single after a wild pitch by Scranton starter LHP Manny Banuelos moved two runners into scoring position.

The RailRiders' used two homeruns off of RHP Jason Marquis to take the lead, with OF Scott Sizemore getting Scranton on the board with a solo shot in the third inning, and C John Ryan Murphy putting them ahead 4-2 with a three-run bomb in the fourth.

A OF Cam Perkins solo-homerun cut the RailRiders lead to one in the bottom of the fourth, but the visitors quickly responded with OF Adonis Garcia knocking in 1B Kyle Roller with an RBI-double in the top of the fifth inning.

Down 5-3 in the sixth inning, 2B Tyler Henson singled to load the bases before Gwynn knocked a bases-clearing double to give the IronPigs a 6-5 lead.

Major league-rehabber RHP Mike Adams would take over for Marquis with the one-run advantage and spin a perfect seventh frame. RHP Luis Garcia then came in and recorded the final six outs allowing only two walks and earning his International League-leading twenty-second save.

The victory marks the ninth win for the IronPigs over the RailRiders, giving Lehigh Valley the season-series victory and the "IronRail" trophy for the first time in its two-year history.
