SeaWolves Walk Off on Tuesday

GAME TWO

The SeaWolves used late-game dramatics as they walked off on the Binghamton Mets in game two of Tuesday night's doubleheader 2-1.

Both starters, Jeff Ferrell and Seth Lugo took scoreless games into the fifth when Binghamton struck for the first run. With two outs in the fifth, Brandon Nimmo broke the scoreless tie with a solo home run to right making it 1-0.

The score remained until the bottom of the seventh inning. Mets reliever Dario Alvarez got the first two outs of the inning and had Dean Green into a 3-2 count. Green blasted a game-tying solo home right to right, tying the game. It was the first home run for Green and the first of the season for Erie. Jeff McVaney followed, reached on an infield single and moved to second on a throwing error. McVaney moved to third on a wild pitch setting up James Robbins. Robbins sent a bouncer up the middle that hit second base and went into center allowing McVaney to score the game-winning run.

Ferrell took the no-decision allowing a run on six hits with a walk and six strikeouts in his season debut.

Omar Duran (1-0) earned the win tossing a scoreless inning in relief.

GAME ONE

The 'Wolves dropped the opener of Tuesday night's double dip to the Mets 7-6, despite scoring their highest run total of the season.

Binghamton jumped ahead in the top of the first against Erie starter Warwick Saupold. Brandon Nimmo walked with one out and T.J. Rivera singled putting a pair on. With two outs, Saupold hit Josh Rodriguez, loading the bases. Aderlin Rodriguez belted a grand slam for a 4-0 lead.

Erie responded in the bottom of the first. Brendan Harris singled with one out and scored on a Corey Jones double making it 4-1.

The Mets added a pair of two-out runs in the third on a Gavin Cecchini double for a 6-1 advantage.

Erie clawed back into the game with a pair of their own in the third. With one out, Harris singled and Jones walked putting two on for Dean Green. Green knocked in Harris and Jeff McVaney followed with a base hit, plating Jones making it 6-3.

In the fourth, Harold Castro singled and stole second. With two outs, Jones singled, plating Castro making it 6-4. Jones came around to score on a Green double to make it a one-run game.

The 'Wolves tied the game at 6-6 in the last of the fifth. With two outs, Austin Green doubled and scored on a Castro flare single to left.

Binghamton regained the lead in the seventh when Cecchini homered off of reliever Joe Mantiply for the game's winning run.
