Chiefs Fall 4-3 Tuesday

Perdomo strikes out 10 in loss
April 22, 2015

The Peoria Chiefs gave up two runs in the top of the eighth and dropped a tough 4-3 loss to the Quad Cities River Bandits Tuesday night. The Chiefs are now 8-5 on the season and will play two more games against the first-place River Bandits.

Quad Cities scored first in the second inning against Chiefs starter Luis Perdomo. Sean McMullen led off the inning and reached on a bunt single and moved to second on a throwing error by Perdomo. He scored on a single by the next batter, Alfredo Gonzalez. Perdomo bounced back to strike out Ryan Bottger, Kristian Trompiz, and Thomas Lindauer in succession to get out of the inning.

Peoria answered in the bottom of the second against River Bandits starter Bryan Radziewski. Collin Radack's one-out single was followed two batters later by a Luis Cruz triple to right-center to tie the game. The Chiefs took the lead in the bottom of the third when a two-out Danny Diekroeger double was immediately followed by a Nick Thompson RBI single.

Quad Cities tied it again in the top of the fourth against Perdomo. Back-to-back one-out singles from Bottger and Trompiz were followed by a wild pitch to move both runners into scoring position. Lindauer walked to load the bases and two batters later Jamie Ritchie drew a walk to score Bottger before Derek Fisher lined out to center to strand the bases loaded.

Peoria took the lead again in their half of the sixth. Thompson and Alex DeLeon singled to put runners at first and second with one out. Cruz floated a single over the head of Trompiz and Thompson scampered home on an errant throw to third base.

Quad Cities came from behind to take the lead with two runs in the eighth inning. Bobby Boyd hit a one-out double off of Zach Loraine. A wild pitch moved Boyd to third before Ritchie knocked him home with a triple to the right field corner. Ritchie scored on a single by Fisher before Kyle Grana came in and shut the door, issuing two walks to load the bases before he struck out Bottger to end the inning.

Perdomo pitched 5 1/3 innings and took a no decision as he allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 10. Blake McKnight worked 1 2/3 shutout innings on one hit and two walks with no strikeouts. Loraine (0-2) was saddled with the loss and a blown save, going only 1/3 of an inning and allowing a pair of runs on three hits without recording a walk or a strikeout. Kyle Grana pitched 1 2/3 innings, allowing no runs on one hit and two walks while striking out three.
