Antigua, Santiago join Iowa Thursday

Britton placed on 7-day DL, Brown reassigned to Myrtle Beach
April 23, 2015

DES MOINES, Iowa - The Iowa Cubs announced a series of roster moves Thursday. Left-hander Jeff Antigua has been promoted from Double-A Tennessee to start Thursday's 12:08 p.m. CT game against New Orleans at Principal Park. Right-hander Andres Santiago has also been promoted from Tennessee. To make room on the active roster, left-hander Drake Britton has been placed on the 7-day disabled list and outfielder Kevin Brown has been reassigned to Advanced-A Myrtle Beach.

Antigua was signed by the Cubs as a non-drafted free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2007. He opened the 2015 season with Iowa, but only made one appearance in long relief, going 2.1 innings and allowing a run on two hits and a walk April 10 at Memphis. The southpaw is making his second career start at Iowa, and second of the season. His first start of the year came for Double-A Tennessee in a no-decision against Pensacola April 17.

Santiago will make his Triple-A debut when he takes the mound for the first time for Iowa. A former Dodgers farmhand, Santiago was drafted by L.A. in the 16th round of the 2007 June draft out of Colegio Carmen Sol High School in Bayamon, PR. He has a 4.65 ERA in 67 games, including 53 starts, at the Double-A level since 2012.

Britton went 1-2 with a 4.26 ERA (3ER/6.1IP) in his first four outings of the season for Iowa. His placement on the disabled list is retroactive to April 19.

Brown joined Iowa for Opening Day in Memphis and went 4-for-11 with two doubles and two RBI in seven games for the I-Cubs.

The I-Cubs will host the New Orleans Zephyrs in game three of a four-game series on Thursday, with a first pitch set for 12:08 p.m. CT at Principal Park. Antigua (0-0, 3.68) will be on the hill for Iowa opposite Zephyrs right-hander Pat Misch (0-0, 0.00). The game can be heard live on AM 940, 104.5 FM, and live streamed at iowacubs.com. The On-Deck Circle Pre-game Show will begin 11:40 p.m. CT.
