Anderson homers doom Mets in 4-3 loss to Jupiter

Jupiter's Anderson hits walk off homer in the ninth
April 26, 2015

JUPITER, Fla. (April 26, 2015) - Brian Anderson provided all of Jupiter's runs on homers as the Hammerheads defeated the St. Lucie Mets 4-3 on Sunday at Roger Dean Stadium.

With the game tied 3-3 in the ninth, Anderson hit the game-winning walk off home run against Kevin McGowan.

In the first inning he bashed a three-run home run off of Michael Fulmer.

The Mets tied the game in the sixth on Michael Conforto's two-run home run, his sixth of the season.

Most of the game was dominated by the pitchers. The first three batters in the first reached against Fulmer, but he settled in after the Anderson long ball and retired 21 of the next 22 batters. The only player to reach against him during that stretch was Austin Dean on an infield single.

Fulmer retired the last 14 batters in a row. He went seven innings and struck out nine.

Jupiter's Jarlin Garcia tossed a shutout through the first four innings. The Mets scratched across a run in the fifth on a sac fly by Colton Plaia.

Relievers Tyler Kinley and Juancito Martinez blanked the Mets over the final 3.2 innings.

It was the third straight game played by the Mets that ended in walk off fashion. They beat Fort Myers at home in 17 innings on Friday and 11 innings on Saturday. On Sunday they were two outs away from going to extra innings for the fifth time in eight games but Anderson halted that.

The Mets recorded 11 hits in the game. Conforto, Jeff McNeil, Victor Cruzado and Jhoan Urena had two-hit games.

The Mets (9-9) and Hammerheads (7-11) continue their three game series at Roger Dean Stadium on Monday at 6:35 p.m. The game can be heard on www.stluciemets.com with the Voice of the Mets, Adam MacDonald.
