Bees in Albuquerque for Four

April 30, 2015

SALT LAKE CITY (April 30) - The Salt Lake Bees continue their road trip, kicking off a four-game series at Albuquerque tonight at 6:35 p.m. MT. First pitch on Friday and Saturday is scheduled for 7:05 p.m., while Sunday's game will be played at 1:05 pm. All games will be broadcast on The Zone Sports Network by "The Voice of the Bees," Steve Klauke.

The Bees have recently hit their stride, winning six of their last eight. Their last two victories have come on the road against the PCL Pacific Southern leaders, the El Paso Chihuahuas. Carlos Perez was five-for-seven during the series, while Daniel Robertson hit for a .385 average with five hits of his own. Marc Krauss tallied just one hit through the four games, but drew five walks for a .500 on-base percentage.

After going 0-for-8 after arriving in Salt Lake from Anaheim, Efren Navarro has settled in and is hitting .571 since April 25. He currently leads the Bees roster with a .414 overall average. He is followed by Perez, who is hitting .373 through 14 games behind the plate. The catcher ranks sixth in the PCL in average.

Kyle Kubitza also makes it onto the PCL leader boarding in several categories. The lefty ranks first in at bats (87) and doubles (11), is tied for third in extra-base hits (14), is fourth in hits (29) and is fifth in total bases (47). The third baseman has played in every game this season and hit safely in all but four.

Drew Rucinski takes the hill for the Bees in the series opener on Thursday night and will be followed by Alex Sanabia, Andrew Heaney and Adam Wilk. Heaney will look for his league-leading fourth win on Saturday. The lefty is one of only five PCL pitchers with three wins and one of only two to own a perfect 3-0 record.

Through four appearances and three starts, Wilk has allowed a single earned run and has held opponents to a .250 batting average. Wilk has managed just a 1-0 record, but ranks first in the PCL with a 0.52 ERA.

Albuquerque switched affiliations the Colorado Rockies in the offseason. The Rockies formerly claimed Colorado Springs as their Triple-A affiliate. Last season, the Bees went 7-9 against the Isotopes with a 3-1 clip against the Sky Sox.

Chris Rusin will take the bump for the Isotopes in game one with Friday's starter still to be determined. John Gray and Carlos Hernandez will follow in the rotation to complete the series. Cristhian Adames heads the Albuquerque offense with a .333 average and .392 on-base percentages. He also has four doubles and three home runs on the season.

The Bees return to Smith's Ballpark on Monday, May 4 at 6:35 p.m. for an eight-game set. The home stand will feature Teacher Appreciation Night on May 5, Bees socks giveaway May 8 and Pack the Park Pink night May 9.
