Third Walk-Off Gives Nuts 2-1 Win

Modesto, CA. - Raimel Tapia was the hero for the Modesto Nuts in their 2-1 walk-off win against the Bakersfield Blaze on Tuesday night at John Thurman Field.

It was the Nuts' (13-13) third walk-off win on the homestand to push their season-long winning streak to five games and get them back to .500 for the first time since the second day of the season.

In the bottom of the tenth with two outs, Cesar Galvez walked against Blaze (13-13) reliever Emilio Pagan (L, 1-4). Gavlez was off and running with the pitch to Tapia who laced a double down the right field line to give the Nuts the win.

Carlos Estevez (W, 4-0) tossed two scoreless innings out of the 'pen allowing only one hit and striking out a pair. Sam Moll worked three perfect innings out of the Nuts' bullpen striking out seven of the nine batters he faced. Grahamm Wiest had the start and worked five innings allowing just one unearned run while striking out four and allowing just three hits.

Edwin Diaz made the start for the Blaze and was great. The righty worked six innings and allowed just one run, a first-inning solo shot to Michael Benjamin, Jr. Diaz struck out seven and did not walk a batter.

The Nuts look to secure the series victory on Wednesday night in the third game of the four-game set. Antonio Senzatela will be on the mound for the Nuts. Ryan Yarbrough will toss for the Blaze.
