11:14 AM EDT

Auburn, NY - The Auburn Doubledays of the New York-Penn League, Single-A Short Season affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce SUNY Cortland has been selected to host the 2015 NCAA Division III Baseball New York Regional at Falcon Park in Auburn, N.Y. Cortland will run the regional May 13-17 in conjunction with the Doubledays.

The schools participating in the double-elimination regional will be announced on Monday, May 11. The regional champion will advance to the eight-team NCAA Division III World Series May 22-26 in Appleton, Wis.

Cortland last hosted NCAA regional play in 2010 and 2011, both in Auburn. In all, nine previous NCAA regionals have been held at Falcon Park, all since 2000. Ithaca College hosted seven of those regionals, most recently in 2013. Cortland served as a co-host in 2005.

"We are really excited to host the tournament at Falcon Park again this year. It's a great opportunity to showcase the ballpark and the City of Auburn to baseball fans from who will be travelling to the area from across New York, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey." said Doubledays General Manager Mike Voutsinas. "It's also a good way to get our staff ready for our season, which starts next month."

Cortland has qualified for NCAA play each of the last 22 years (1993-2014), the longest active streak nationally in Division III. The Red Dragons are currently ranked first nationally in Div. III and are a virtual lock to earn another national berth this spring. Six of the Red Dragons' 12 regional crowns occurred in Auburn (2000, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010), along with three second-place finishes (2006, 2011, 2013).

The Doubledays are scheduled to open the 2015 season on Friday, June 19 at Batavia. Opening Night at Falcon Park is scheduled for Thursday, June 25 against the West Virginia Black Bears.
