Green Sharp Again But 'Wolves Fall

May 15, 2015

The SeaWolves offense could not get it going for the second straight night as they dropped their second straight to the Reading Fightin Phils, 2-0, at First Energy Stadium.

Reading grabbed a lead in the second inning against Erie starter Chad Green. Art Charles led off with a walk and scored on a Cam Perkins double for a 1-0 lead.

The games second run came in the last of the sixth. KC Serna led off with an infield single and got to second on an error. Brock Stassi singled home Serna making it 2-0.

Erie got the tying run to the plate in the ninth inning against reliever Anthony Vasquez. Dean Green led off with a single, but Vasquez struck out Wade Gaynor and induced a game-ending 4-6-3 double play off the bat of James Robbins.

Fightins starter Aaron Nola (5-2) held the SeaWolves without a run in six innings of work. He walked one and struck out three while only allowing four this. Nola has limited the SeaWolves to just a run in 14 innings of work over two starts.

Green (1-5) was the tough luck loser for his second consecutive start. He allowed two runs on six hits with a walk and five strikeouts in six innings of work. Green has allowed just three runs over three May starts but is just 1-2 in those games.

The Erie offense has not scored a run in 19 consecutive innings.
