May 22, 2015

DUNEDIN, FL - The Dunedin Blue Jays (19-23) dropped a low-scoring contest to the St. Lucie Mets (19-23), 3-1, on Friday, May 22.

Dunedin responded to the two third inning runs by St. Lucie with one of its own in the bottom half. Dickie Joe Thon doubled to lead off the inning. Maicer Izturis followed with a great piece of hitting with a groundout to second, advancing Thon to third. Roemon Fields then drove Thon home on a groundout to second.

Thon later began a spectacular play on a ball hit to right field beginning a relay throw that would eventually cut down Michael Conforto at home plate.

Blue Jays starter Jairo Labourt kept the Blue Jays in it by hurling five innings of two-run baseball. He struck out six hitters on the evening.

The Mets tacked on a run in the seventh to put the contest to bed.

Phil Kish made his second appearance for Dunedin out of the bullpen and allowed one run over two frames. Alberto Tirado finished the game and was strong for the Blue Jays tossing two innings of one-hit baseball; he did not allow a run and struck out three.

Game three of the four-game is set tomorrow, Saturday, May 23 at 6:30PM. St. Lucie will send Kevin McGowen to the mound, Dunedin has yet to determine a starter.
