Baysox Take Down 'Wolves in Series Finale

May 28, 2015

The SeaWolves bats went silent on Thursday night at Prince George's Stadium as they dropped the series finale to the Bowie Baysox 6-1.

Bowie jumped ahead in the second against Erie starter Josh Turley. Sean Halton led off and reached on an error. Garabez Rosa followed with a two-run home run to left for a 2-0 Bowie lead. Erie would never rebound.

Erie's lone run came in the fourth against Bowie starter Terry Doyle. With two outs, Jason Krizan reached on an error and moved into scoring position on a Curt Powell base knock. James Robbins singled home Krizan, cutting the Bowie lead in half at 2-1.

It remained a one-run game until the last of the eighth. Reliever Joe Mantiply came into the game for Erie. With one out, Mantiply walked Quincy Latimore, gave up a single to Jason Esposito and walked Ozzie Martinez. Glynn Davis followed with a base hit, scoring Latimore making it 3-1. Mike Yastrzemski singled home Esposito to make it 4-1. Matt Wieters followed and grounded into what looked to be an inning-ending double play. Harold Castro fielded at short and got the runner at second but an errant Krizan throw allowed two runs to score for a 6-1 lead.

Mychal Givens tossed two scoreless frames for Bowie in relief of Doyle, earning the save.

Turley (4-3) took the loss allowing two runs, one earned, on five hits with three walks and five strikeouts.
