Dayton walks off against Lansing in ten innings, 6-5

Dayton, Oh - Luis Gonzalez smacked a walk-off RBI single in the tenth inning, pushing the Dayton Dragons (26-25) past the Lansing Lugnuts (30-21), 6-5, Sunday at Fifth Third Field.

Gonzalez lined the ball to right field against Starlyn Suriel, ending Lansing's four-game win streak.

The Lugnuts' brightest offensive star was Ryan McBroom. The 23-year-old completed the first five-hit game of his career, finishing 5-for-5 with 3 RBIs.

On the mound, Suriel (Loss, 3-3) relieved Chase De Jong and allowed one run and two hits in 3.1 IP. De Jong yielded five runs on eight hits and struck out four.

Conor Krauss (Win 2-0) pitched the final three innings and allowed two hits.

Dayton starter Seth Varner allowed five runs before being replaced in the fourth by Jake Ehret. Ehret pitched until the eighth, gave up no runs and allowed three hits.

Varner gave up an RBI fielder's choice to catcher Justin Atkinson, who made his first professional start at catcher. Atkinson finished 0-for-4 with an RBI.

Lansing's Anthony Alford went 0-for-5, snapping his 33-game on-base streak snapped. It was the first time this season Alford had not reached base in a game he's started.  

The Lugnuts complete a seven-game road trip Monday at 7:00 p.m. against Dayton. Lansing starter Jesus Tinoco (0-3, 3.20 ERA) pitches against Mark Armstrong (3-1, 2.82 ERA).
