Pigs Drop Finale to RailRiders, 8-2

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (27-45) dropped the series finale to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (41-30) by a score of 8-2 on Sunday afternoon at Coca-Cola Park.

Kyle Roller gave the RailRiders a 3-0 lead in the first with a three-run blast off of Pigs starter Chad Billingsley. It was Roller's 10th home run of the season.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre extended the lead to 7-0 with four runs in the second as Ben Gamel hit a two-run homer, and Nick Noonan along with Rob Segedin delivered back-to-back RBI singles with two outs in the inning.

Billingsley (2-2) was tagged with the loss as he allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits while walking two and fanning three in 2.2 IP.

The IronPigs were able to get on the board with a pair of runs in the sixth as they loaded the bases with nobody out before Brian Bogusevic plated a run with an RBI fielder's choice and Darin Ruf followed with a sac fly to cut the lead to 7-2.

The RailRiders opened up an 8-2 advantage with a run in the seventh as Noonan drew a leadoff walk, moved to third on a double and scored on a wild pitch charged to Pigs RHP Chris Leroux (3.2 IP, 4 H, R, ER, BB, 2 K).

RHP Luis Severino (3-0) earned the win for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as he gave up two runs (zero earned) on four hits while fanning seven over 7.2 IP.

RHP J.C. Gutierrez (1.2 IP, H) and LHP Adam Loewen (1.0 IP, H, 2 K) each notched a scoreless outing in relief for the Pigs.

Edgar Duran (2-3, 2B, R) had a multi-hit game for the IronPigs.

Lehigh Valley will enjoy an off day on Monday before opening a three game set with the Buffalo Bisons on Tuesday night in Buffalo. First pitch from Coca-Cola Field is set for 7:05 p.m. as RHP Severino Gonzalez (1-4, 4.23) gets the ball for the Pigs against Buffalo LHP Randy Wolf (5-1, 3.01).
