IronPigs Fall to PawSox, 7-2

The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (39-51) dropped a 7-2 decision to the Pawtucket Red Sox (39-51) on Saturday night at McCoy Stadium.

The win snapped an 11-game losing streak for Pawtucket.

Garin Cecchini gave the PawSox a 1-0 lead with a solo shot in the home half of the fourth off of Pigs starter Jason Berken. It was Cecchini's sixth home run of the year.

The Pigs took a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the fifth. Ethan Chapman (2-4, 3B, R) reached via a two-out triple before coming to score on Chase d'Arnaud's RBI single which tied things at one. Two batters later, Aaron Altherr (2-4, RBI) gave Lehigh Valley the lead with an RBI single of his own.

In the home half of the same frame, Pawtucket tied it at two apiece courtesy of an Allen Craig RBI single.

Daniel Nava's RBI single in the bottom of the sixth gave the PawSox a 3-2 lead.

Berken (5-6) gave up three runs on 10 hits while fanning four over six innings of work.

Pawtucket starter Keith Couch (4-8) surrendered two runs on nine hits to go along with three strikeouts in 6.0 IP.

Lehigh Valley had runners at second and third with two outs, but Jonathan Aro was able to get Russ Canzler (2-4) to ground to short and end the inning.

A four-run seventh opened up a 7-2 lead for Pawtucket. Jonathan Roof plated a run with a sac fly, Matt Spring drove home a run with an RBI single and Nava knocked home a pair with an RBI bloop double. All four runs were charged to RHP Seth Rosin (0.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER).

RHP Tyler Knigge (1.1 IP, H, BB, K) had a scoreless outing in relief for the Pigs.

The series wraps up on Sunday at 1:05 p.m. as LHP Anthony Vasquez (4-3, 5.01) takes the mound for the Pigs against PawSox RHP Steven Wright (2-4, 3.60).
