Lansing falls one short in three-run ninth

July 11, 2015

Dayton, Ohio. - David Harris knocked a two-out, three-run double to bring the Lansing Lugnuts (9-8, 51-36) within a run in the ninth, but Chris Carlson grounded out and the Dayton Dragons (8-9, 47-40) won by one for the second straight game, 4-3, Saturday at Fifth Third Field.

Dragons reliever Jake Ehret entered in the ninth with Dayton up by four runs. Lansing walked twice and D.J. Davis singled to load the bases before Harris' double.

Prior to the hit, Dayton's four runs against Starlyn Suriel (Loss, 5-5) kept the Dragons comfortably ahead.

Starlyn Suriel recorded one out in the fifth before Colton Turner relieved and continued his strong stretch.

The lefty reliever gave up two hits and no runs in a professional high 3.2 IP.

Turner has not allowed a run in his last 10 innings, a professional high scoreless streak. The Texas State product has not allowed a run his last four appearances.

Wyatt Strahan (WIn, 6-6) did not allow a run in six innings.

Dayton's offense struck in the fourth and fifth. Narciso Crook grounded into a double play with the bases loaded for Dragons' first run.

In a three-run fifth, Dayton scorched Suriel for four consecutive hits to start the frame, including a Jonathan Reynoso home run.

The Lugnuts' Chase Mallard (3-2, 4.82) takes the hill for the third game in the series, scheduled for a 2:00 p.m. start on Sunday. Tejay Antone (4-7, 2.82) opposes for the Dragons.
