Vasquez Dominant as Pigs Blank PawSox, 4-0

July 12, 2015

LHP Anthony Vasquez tossed eight shutout innings to help lead the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (40-51) to a 4-0 victory over the Pawtucket Red Sox (39-52) on Sunday afternoon at McCoy Stadium.

The IronPigs won 11 of their final 14 games heading into the All-Star break.

Vasquez (5-3) allowed four hits while walking two and fanning four over the eight plus innings. LHP Adam Loewen (1.0 IP, K) came on with runners at first and second and nobody out in the ninth but was able to get the final three outs to preserve the win and notch his fifth save of the season.

The game was scoreless until the top of the seventh as Vasquez and his PawSox counterpart, Steven Wright traded zeroes.

In the afore-mentioned top of the seventh, the IronPigs plated all four of their runs as Logan Moore (2-4, HR, 3 RBI, R) delivered the big blow with a three-run blast and Cord Phelps (2-4, RBI, R) came through with an RBI single. It was Moore's first home run of his Triple-A career.

Wright (2-5) allowed the four runs on nine hits to go along with a walk and six strikeouts in seven innings of work.

Chase d'Arnaud (2-3) also had a multi-hit game for Lehigh Valley and Aaron Altherr extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the seventh.

The Pigs will now enjoy three days off for the All-Star break before resuming action on Thursday night at Rochester. First pitch from Frontier Field is set for 7:05 p.m. as Pigs RHP Aaron Nola (3-0, 2.43) will get the ball against Red Wings RHP Tyler Duffey (3-4, 2.47).
