Braves Sweep RiverDogs in Doubleheader

The Rome Braves swept a doubleheader Thursday night against the Charleston RiverDogs 4-1 in game one and 3-0 in the nightcap before 3,360 fans at State Mutual Stadium.

Game one saw Charleston take an early 1-0 lead in the first inning on leadoff homerun by Vicente Conde (1). The lead was short lived as Rome bounced back with two runs in the fourth on a two-run blast by Bryan De La Rosa (4) for the 2-1 score. Rome added two runs in the fifth on a RBI double by Ozzie Albies and a RBI single by Omar Obregon for the 4-1 final. Wes Parsons (1-0) gets the win and Jordan Foley (3-3) the loss. Brad Roney gets his fourth save of the season.

The Braves and RiverDogs took dueling one hitters into the sixth inning. Rome pushed across three runs in their half of the sixth inning. Jordan Edgerton started the scoring with a RBI groundout followed by a RBI single by Tanner Murphy and a RBI double by Braxton Davidson to give Rome the 3-0 lead. Sean Furney (5-3) gets the victory while Angel Rincon (1-1) the loss. Felix Marte got his first save of the season
